I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph the beautiful curve model, Connie from One Model Management. I’m so happy that we were able to pull this shoot together. We ended up scheduling the shoot on the day I was scheduled to leave NYC for the holidays, so I only had a short window of time to shoot with Connie. Luckily I was already shooting my holiday themed beauty shoot with makeup artist Amanda Thesen and hairstylist Jasmine Burnside, so we were already in work mode.
Connie is a Curve model with One Management, so if you’re shopping for Plus Size Fashion you may have seen Connie in some advertisements before. She recently booked a beauty campaign, which I’m thrilled to see companies using a variety of sizes in their beauty campaigns. Beauty products are for everyone and I’m a firm believer that the media should portrait beauty in all of the different packages that are around the world.
Connie’s agent Anthony mentioned that Connie needed an update of lingerie looks for her book. Connie has really good style and pulled some incredible pieces, but with our time constraints, I wanted to make sure that the shoot would be a success for all and we could get some new lingerie photos for everyone’s book.
For lighting I tested out some new lighting setups that I’ve been studying and wanting to try out. I usually test the setup out on myself first to get the basics and then introduce it on a test shoot with a model. I have my own signature style of light that I use on a lot of my model portfolio shoots, but I wanted to push myself to try something new and looked through some lingerie and editorial photoshoots to get inspiration and study how they used light.Part of testing as a photographer is to try out new techniques and make them your own for future shoots. I used similar lighting with shoot with Camille Kostek.
Here are the images we got from our shoot together! I’m so happy with how they went and look forward to shooting more beautiful work like this soon!
